A Piece of River 2021
Material: Tasmanian Hugo Pine ( Ebonised ) - hand carved
Size: 160 x 110 x 90 mm
Description/ Inspiration: All my younger life I lived on rivers. Here in Australia and earlier on in my home of Aotearoa. I have seen them swell and flood, and in the case of Australia, slow, dry up and all together stop flowing. That makes me ache.
And now, according to the ‘wisdom’ of modern economics, you can own the water that flows through the land, even if you don’t live there on the river. That makes me ache too.
But you can’t own a piece of river, you just can’t. Just like you can’t own a piece of sky.
Price: $1120
